Jill the Home Owner
In 2008, tired of feeling like she was throwing away money on rent each month, Jill Kline and her husband Jeff decided to buy a house. They had been Milwaukee residents for several years and have lived in the Riverwest, Washington Park, and East Side neighborhoods of the city. Working with an excellent Realtor, they found a 2.5 bedroom house in good shape in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood and bought it.
Little did they know, they had purchased a project house. Although the kitchen had been updated recently, it appeared that nothing else had been touched since the house had been built in 1951. Jill and Jeff had a lot of work to do to transform the appearance of their home to match their style. This, of course, meant lots of trips to home improvement stores, which Jill doesn’t like. They have learned a lot along the way and have made some major improvements to the house including removing outdated awnings and a bush that covered up the front of the house, painting the entire inside and outside of the house, and getting new flooring for the first floor. However, one major project remains: the hideous bathroom needs a complete overhaul. A lot of work needs to be done, so they’ll end up working with contractors and because it’s the only bathroom in the house, they’re hoping the process will go quickly! Home ownership has lots of ups and downs, but the first two years have proven to be very educational! |
